迪克森最近还编了一本让短尾矮袋鼠教人快乐生活的书《Finding Happiness – The Quokka Way》，正在集资出版。

罗特尼斯岛是临近珀斯的A级自然保护区，简称罗岛，西澳大利亚人则亲切地称之为「罗特」（Rotto）。短尾矮袋鼠是该岛独有的有袋动物，罗岛由此也得名「西澳老鼠岛」。

短尾矮袋鼠以好奇的天性而闻名。它们的天敌非常稀少，使之对其它动物没有什么戒备心。这还不算，它们经常跑到人的自拍镜头中，或求「爱的抱抱」。
