They're not directly comparable products because HFC is a shared environment, whereas bare metal is an single tenant with exclusive control of the hardware. You cannot make full use of the host CPU with HFC, whereas with bare metal this is not even a concern. (The same issue applies each way with network and disk I/O bandwidth.)

Being a newer product deployed on newer hardware, you may get better performance out of HFC for transient workloads. Long-running computational tasks should be kept on bare metal.

We don't provide the exact CPU specifications for VPS instances, since they're subject to change and not visible to the guest operating system in any case. You are welcome to deploy and run short-lived test benchmarks to examine the relative performance, however.
